General Information
Basketball carnivals are held in Adelaide, regional South Australia, and interstate throughout the year. Information and details are provided to Team Coaches and Managers, as they become available. Team Managers should discuss participation in appropriate Carnivals with their Coach and liaise with the team players and parents/carers.
Should a team wish to attend a Carnival (other than the Easter Classic or State Champs), a Carnival Nomination Form must be completed and forwarded to the Norwood Office at least one week prior to the closing date. The appropriate Coaching Director will approve the form before it is submitted to the Tournament Organiser.
Verbal nominations will NOT be accepted. Team Managers should ring the office for further information and are asked not to contact the tournament directors.
It is the Team Managers responsibility to:
- make all travel and accommodation arrangements for the Team; and
- ensure the Coach, players and parents/carers are aware of the Club’s “Attendance at Carnivals”, “Alcohol and other Drugs Policy”, and the “Carnival Policy”, which are on the Club’s website under “Policies”.
Norwood has no formal policy enforcing individual teams to pay for their coach either travel or accommodation expenses. However, if the coach does not have siblings playing in the travelling teams, it will be left to the team manager’s discretion to ask parents for financial support.
It will never be considered compulsory for families to pay the extra, and players will not be discriminated against, or dropped from the travelling team, if they don’t contribute.
If the coach does have siblings in this team, Norwood suggests that the family would have incurred these travel and accommodation costs anyway and therefore no contribution is needed.
